Abstract Objective 'To observe the preventive and therapeutic effects of amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium onpostoperative infections in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia undergoing transurethral resection of prostate(TURP ). Methods 112 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia were selected and randomly divided into twogroups. The patients were received TURP surgery, while the control group had 56 patients who were received routineanti infection treatment alter surgery. The observation group had 56 patients who were received adjuvant treatmentwith amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium after surgery. The improvement of inflammatory and immune indicators ,ineidence of postoperative infection, and medication safety between the two groups patients were compared. Results After treatment, the CRP and lL-10 levels in the observation group were lower than those in the controlgroup, and the expression levels of CD4*/CD3* and CD4*/CD8* on 'T lymphocytes were higher than those in thecontrol group. 'The expression levels of CD8*/CD3*and the incidence of postoperative infeetion were lower than thosein the control group, and the differences were statistically significant( P<0.05). There was no statistically significantdifference in the incidence of drug-related side elfects between the two groups( P>0.05 ). Conclusion Amoxicillinclavulanate potassium assisted 'TURP can elfectively improve inflammatory indicators and enhance immune functionin patients with benign prostatie hyperplasia, and has a positive elfeet on reducing the risk of postoperative infection.Moreover, the combined use of this drug do not significantly inerease the risk of adverse reactions, and themedication safety is relatively high.
